The time for the Church to confront what is happening in the streets across America is past due. Seeking justice is a part of God’s mission of redemption. We have to confront what we’ve been ignoring about our biblical call and mandate as the people of God. It is time that we get honest about what is happening or not happening in the heart of the body of Christ that prevents Christians from being actively engaged in the fight for justice.
The streets are crying out for justice. But they’re crying out to man and manmade systems when they should be crying out to God. And we, the Church, should be the answer to their prayers. Their cries should make us uncomfortable; they should move us to action. In this sermon, I get into some biblical reasons why we should be uncomfortable, why social justice should be a concern for the church, and why we should be actively engaged in the fight against injustice.
