A native of Philadelphia, PA, and a product of the public school system, Martin Harrison has firsthand experience with inequity, inequality, and injustice.
Since completing his political science degree at Lincoln University, the first degree-granting HBCU, in 2008, Martin has sought to change the lives of the people around him for the better. Although unclear on how to best use his strengths to do that, Martin knew he was called to be a voice for the voiceless. He went on to study public administration at Pennsylvania State University, concentrating his work on nonprofit resource management. Through an internship while at Penn State, Martin uncovered his natural skill for grant writing and written appeals.
In the fall of 2014, Martin responded to God’s call to ministry, launching a small group gathering for millennials in his home with his wife, Tiffany, in 2016. Since then, the two have served as co-leaders of the Young Adult Ministry at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Wilmington, DE, as well as facilitators of pre-marital skill-building for young couples. Martin is currently pursuing ministry licensure in the Wesleyan Church.
Over the past ten years, Martin has woven his professional experiences together with his personal passions to address disparities of access and build healthy communities. He has a heart for empowering the disenfranchised with self-sufficiency. In 2017, Martin started a company that provides capacity-building insight for small community-based nonprofit organizations.
